SUSTAINABILITY OF A REALIZED PROJECT ON THE CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION PROGRAM BULGARIA MACEDONIA
At the end of 2017, the Municipality of Satovcha implemented a project through which a new pedestrian zone, a bicycle lane, places for roller skating and for children with recreation areas were built, near the Bistritsa River in the village of Satovcha. In general, the reconstruction of a riverside street along with the strengthening the part of the river banks in the village is being implemented within the project “Thinking about nature, culture and water – to be European tourists”, co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg-IPA Program for cross-border co-operation Bulgaria – Macedonia 2014-2020.
The partners in the project are Lipkovo Municipality from Macedonia and Community Center “Prosveta 1937”, village of Pletena.
The implementation of this project was of great importance for improving the living environment in the village. Its implementation transformed almost unusable terrain in the immediate vicinity of the local stadium and made it a multifunctional area. A pleasant and welcoming place where the residents and guests can relax in the appropriate places and children and young people can play sports and have fun on the well-equipped playgrounds, said the mayor of the municipality Dr. Arben Mimenov.
For the sake of sustainability of the project, the municipality with its own funds has improved and additionally furnished this wonderful place with various children’s facilities such as swings and slides, making it a pleasant place for both little ones and adults who can enjoy using their leisure time.
